Knowledge is a right, not a privilege — and the price tag should never be the barrier.
I was incarcerated at sixteen years old. I never imagined I would ever be released. After serving twenty years, I finally returned to society — and I was completely unprepared. I hadn’t used my time wisely. I hadn’t learned what I needed to know. I didn’t even understand the depth of what I didn’t know.
At one facility, they offered college courses, but I couldn’t afford them. A friend paid for a $400 mail‑in correspondence course, so I could show the parole board I was trying to better myself. It was a very expensive certificate for a non-accredited class. I had taken every group the facility offered, which was very limited. After that, I stopped investing in my education.
After fifteen years with almost no educational opportunities, I was transferred to another facility — and I was astounded to discover they offered free college courses. I enrolled immediately. For five years, I participated in Three Rivers Community College and took courses through Wesleyan. That was the beginning of my understanding that education could transform not only my mind, but my soul. I realized that all people — especially incarcerated people — need opportunities to expand their minds and pursue learning.
ConPassion Correspondence was built on a straightforward belief: every person, regardless of where they are, deserves affordable access to current, meaningful information. Whether you are exploring a career you want to pursue after release, diving into a subject that has always fascinated you, or building real, documented skills — we exist to make that possible.
Through my own experience, I also came to understand that education must include practical, real‑world information, not just academic or recreational content. And this information should never be withheld simply because someone cannot afford expensive programs. I should have been studying a driver’s manual, basic financial literacy, housing options, and career paths that were actually available to someone with my charges.
This is the foundation of our certificate program. We provide information that each individual truly needs, not a one‑size‑fits‑all curriculum.
We are here to help you.
We offer multiple payment tiers to make this knowledge accessible. We believe that completing specific lessons — and earning a certificate — matters. It shows others the progress you are making.
The idea that incarcerated people are not trying to better themselves is a fallacy. The truth is that opportunities for incarcerated people to grow are limited. ConPassion Correspondence exists to change that.
Our service is simple. You tell us what you want to learn about. We research it thoroughly, compile current, relevant material, and mail it directly to your facility. No hidden fees, no fine print.
"Through my own experience, I also came to understand that education must include practical, real‑world information, not just academic or recreational content. And this information should never be withheld simply because someone cannot afford expensive programs."
For those who want to go further, we offer the option to turn your research into a structured course with a formal certificate — a documented achievement you can include in your parole packet, present to employers, or simply keep as a record of what you accomplished. And for those with a story to tell, our free book publishing service helps you take your writing from handwritten pages to a published work.
This program is open to any incarcerated individual in the United States. Family members, friends, and pen pals can request and pay on your behalf. There are no enrollment prerequisites and no prior education required.
Custom Research
Tell us your topic — career, interest, skill, or question — and we compile current, up-to-date material tailored specifically to your request.
Optional Certificate
Choose to have your research compiled as a structured course. Complete it and receive a formal printed certificate — a real credential for your parole packet or employment search.
Getting started is straightforward — no forms to fill out online, no complicated enrollment process. Just tell us what you want to know more about, and we take it from there.
Tell Us Your Topic
Write to us — by mail or email — with your name, facility, and what you want to research. This can be a career you plan to pursue after release, a subject that interests you, a skill you want to develop, or any topic you want to understand more deeply. There is no wrong answer. If you are unsure where to start, check the What We Research tab for ideas — or just describe what you are curious about and we will guide you.
Choose Your Format
Let us know whether you want your material as a research packet (up to 400 pages of curated information on your topic) or as a structured course with a certificate (the same material organized into a curriculum with exercises, and a formal certificate mailed to you upon completion).
Pay & Confirm
Send your payment by money order payable to ConPassion Correspondence, along with your topic request and mailing details. Family members and pen pals can pay on your behalf. Once payment is received, we begin your research right away.
We Research & Compile
Our team researches your topic using current sources — industry guides, career resources, educational material, and relevant reference information — and compiles up to 400 pages of material specifically relevant to your request. This is not a pre-packaged catalog. Every packet is assembled for you, based on what you asked for.
Receive Your Materials
Your packet is printed and mailed directly to your facility. All materials are designed to comply with standard facility mail inspection — no spiral binding, no staples, no prohibited content. If your facility has specific restrictions, let us know and we will adapt.
Complete & Receive Your Certificate (Optional)
If you chose the course-with-certificate option, work through the material and complete the included exercises at your own pace — no deadlines. Mail your responses back to us, and we will send your formal ConPassion Correspondence certificate, printed in your name and suitable for inclusion in your parole packet.
All materials are designed to pass standard facility mail inspection. If your facility has specific restrictions, contact us first — we have always found a workable solution.

For decades, correspondence education companies have charged incarcerated individuals — and their families — hundreds or even thousands of dollars per course. The most well-known, non-accredited Coorespondence Courses, have served many students. But a close look at their pricing raises a serious question: why should access to knowledge cost this much?
The correspondence education industry was built on a captive market. Incarcerated individuals have limited alternatives, and their families are often willing to sacrifice to support their loved one's growth. Companies have charged accordingly — sometimes with aggressive payment plan structures, unclear billing practices, and content that hasn't been meaningfully updated in years.
We believe that is wrong. Access to current, relevant information should not require a family to go into debt. The price of learning should not be a punishment on top of a sentence. $100 covers your entire request — research, materials, and a certificate if you want one. That is the full cost, and it will not change.
✦ Current Research. Your Topic. Your $100. ✦
Every packet we compile is researched fresh using current sources — not reprinted from an old textbook. Whether you want career preparation, personal enrichment, or a certified course to add to your parole packet, the process is the same: you name it, we research it, we mail it.
